Statement:  Prominent American artist Ed Reep states that..."Betty Younger's glistening images are joyous to behold. A sculptor at heart, she is in full command of the essentials-form, space and surface.
She allows metal to be metal.

Her surfaces become mirrors of their environment, often including the viewer, while simultaneously embracing space in order to suggest volume. Her audience will be treated to a spectacular, visual feast."

Biography:  Polished stainless steel is the medium favored by Betty Hoenshell Younger.

I am influenced by Gabo (French). Endless possibilities of metal inspires me. My sculptures express my power over the medium and my life."

Betty Younger has been working with this this unforgiving material in her central California studio, adding another dimension to a career influenced by the Bauhas school of Art and Architecture.

With a BA in fine arts and a secondary teaching credential from UCLA.

She has won many award's, including the art competition for the U.S Olympic Committee Sport Art Competition 2000.

"The Flame" will be on display at the permanent "Olympic Art Collection" Museum in Lausanne Switzerland.

1999 Silver Metal winner of the National US Olympic art competition presently showing in Lausanne Switzerland.
2000 Invited to compete in the Winter Olympic 2002 in Salt Lake City.
2000 Exhibiting at the Olympic headquarters in June of 2000.
2001 Two gallery shows in Los Angeles CA.
2001 Bakersfield Museum of Art spring show.

2002  International Art Competition for the winter games in Salt Lake City Utah.

2003 Winner, 4th place of the Olympic Art Competition 2004               "The Olympic Spirit"

2003 Fall - Installed new commission for Chain-Younger Law Firm       "Sun Catcher" 11' tall stainless and painted steel.

2003 June -  Winner, 1st place Individual Artist for the Beautiful Bakersfield Awards. Recognized and honored by Senator      Wm.  Thomas for promoting "Art in Public Places". Four large colorful sculptures were installed in a permanent "Sculpture Garden" to honor the city of Bakersfield, one of the largest cities in the central valley of California.

2004 Summer - Betty designed and built her new shop studio in Bakersfield, California.

2004 Fall - A new commission sculpture called "Time Capsule 2020", is  9' 6" high,  made of high polished stainless steel and painted cold steel. It will be installed at the Bank of America in Bakersfield, California.
